To open the Preferences window, sign in to fTalk, click on your full name next to your profile picture to open fTalk menu, and select Preferences. Another option is to click on the 'Hide' link that appears on the pop up notifications.
In the Preferences dialog, go to the 'Notifications' tab and select 'None' from the options list next to 'A friend comes online'.
Note: You can also control the notifications that pop up when a friend sends you a message in that same tab.
Please review the uninstall information page.
